Tucson's Undead

By ZT Staff

In typical Tucson fashion, hundreds of local freaks showed up to participate in a goodhearted zombie parade and dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller on Saturday, October 24. Those undead, ghoulish aberrations ended up shuffling and squirming our city into the ranks of the Thrill The World's top fifty cities.

Based on the number of Old Pueblo participants - over 300 at the last tally - Rosie Zwaduk, one of the local organizers, confirmed that Tucson was one of the top 50 worldwide cities.

This year is the first time Tucson's Zombie Walk has participated in Thrill The World, an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson's Thriller - which was vying for another Guinness World Record attempt this year.

The 4th Annual Zombie Walk not only pulled together the local Thrill The World dance, it also collected food for the Community Food Bank and brought people downtown for a cool urban experience at the Franklin Loading Docks at Franklin Street and 9th Street.

The parade of zombies slunk downtown to Congress and later to Surly Wench on 4th Avenue, with Pee-Wee Herman as the Grand Marshall.

Check out this video of the local Thriller dance.
