Old pro musicians have no patience for wasted time.
On Cheepness' debut release, "Shakin' Hands With The King," the seasoned Tucson quartet of Randy McReynolds, E.E. Mendoza, Mike Sydloski and Duane Hollis waste no time going straight to the listener's ear with twelve tasty cuts in a general hard rock vein that is little heard in a Tucson music scene where singers/songwriters dominate.
Sly, wry stories are told - about Evel Kneivel, painful dates from hell, troubled people in deep cold water, near death experiences, songs about getting away, getting off, and getting down the road.
Rocking and bluesy, with slide guitar, some country flavor and even a little head-banging metal; the double lead electric guitar, driving bass and solid percussion of this band makes it clear that actual rehearsals, friends playing with friends, are taking place.
Catch Cheepness at its CD release party Sat, Dec 12 at Plush with opening act The Monitors and the night closing with Gila Bend. Check 'em out online at www.MySpace.com/cheepness.
