It's TreeCycle Time in the City

By Jamie Manser

Once you are ready to doff the jingle bells from the Christmas tree, do your part for our environment and recycle that puppy.

Running through January 10, the City of Tucson's Tree Collection Program is accepting trees at eight regional locations (see below). On January 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., donated trees will be chipped for mulch at the Rillito Race Track (4502 N. 1st Ave.) for residents to use in their gardens. Be sure to bring your own mulch container.

The press release says the program began in 1997 and "has collected and re-used more than 309,500 Christmas trees." It also reminds us: trees won't be picked up from curbs and alleys; remove all ornaments, decorations and tree stands; live trees are not accepted.

The press release says the donation locations are open during daylight hours, seven days a week, unless otherwise noted, but there were no notations...
