February, the month well known for celebrating love and St. Valentine, also honors and remembers prominent African-Americans with Black History Month.
Its origins date back to 1926 when Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the celebration after discovering, through his research, that the African-American population was largely ignored in history books.
To recognize Black History Month, KXCI 91.3FM, will have special on-air programming all month. Also visit TheZMag.com for other local events commemorating the occasion.
