Speaking of Rialto, rumor has it that The Bodies exhibit is going to fill the spaces in the block west of the theatre. I saw the exhibit in Vegas, and it's truly outstanding.
We also hear that Zen Rock, most nights a dance club, will start hosting live music in May on Wednesdays.
The 25th Annual Tucson Folk Festival (TFF) is coming up on May 1-2, featuring Saturday night headliners Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen; Sunday night with nationally renowned Tucson resident John Coinman.

The weekend includes the regular goodies - songwriter showcases, children's activities, acoustic stages, new artists' stages and more, all for free. On April 11, from 11am-8pm, is a TFF fundraiser at Old Town Artisans, 201 N. Court Ave., with 11 bands for $10, which includes: The Rhythm Skinks, The Tryst, Stringbean Orchestra, Copper Moon, Womansong, Big Jim Griffith, Greg Morton and Jim Stanley, Kevin Pakulis and Larry Lee Lerma, The Wyatts, Last Call Girls, Spirit Familia.
Old Town Artisans also hosts the TFF kick off party come Friday, April 30 with house/host band The Determined Luddites. Other bands are yet to be announced, but the tunes take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., with a $5 cover. More on TKMA.org.
Saturday, May 8 sees the inaugural Second Saturdays: a free, downtown music and art event that is being heavily underwritten through 2010 by Providence Service Corporation - a behavioral health non-profit who recently moved downtown at the southwest corner of Broadway Boulevard and Scott Avenue. Community radio station KXCI, 91.3FM, has offered media support, along with Zocalo Magazine.
The event is being coordinated by downtown merchants who plan to create an eclectic, family-friendly scene stretching from Hotel Congress to the Fox Theatre, taking place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. More event details & a website shall be forthcoming.
