The historic Rialto building will host a traveling exhibit usually destined for major cities, bringing national cachet to the Old Pueblo.
"Bodies - The Exhibition" features real human specimens that have been dissected and preserved using a plasticization process that maintains the figure with liquid silicone rubber, providing viewers the opportunity to see the complexity of their own organs and body systems. The exhibit illustrates these systems with more than 160 specimens.
As for the Rialto building itself, the progress of construction is nothing short of amazing. The building received occupancy certification in late April, with the exhibit team set to move in May 1. Considering the previous state of the property it is phenomenal what developer Don Martin and his team has accomplished in such a short period of time.
"We had 45 days to bring the building up to where we needed it to be, a project which normally would have taken six months," said Martin. "I was incredibly pleased and impressed by how willing the City of Tucson and ParkWise were to be a part of the process. Chris Leighton with ParkWise was actually the one who brought the 'Bodies' planners and myself together and the synergy with this group has been the driving force."
Opening May 15 for eight weeks, exhibit hours are Sun-Thur, 10am-8pm; Fri-Sat, 10am-10pm at 300 E. Congress St. Tickets run $14-$22 and are only available at BodiesTucson.com.
