Get Your Pamper On

Once a month the blooming, flower-filled courtyard of Old Town Artisans, 201 N. Court Ave., transforms into a center for women to come, support and enjoy other local women involved in business and the arts.

Women and men of all ages are invited to relax and be treated to happy hour specials, minute massages, mini facials and manicures, henna tattoos, intuitive readings, jewelry, live entertainment, a raffle with the proceeds going to a local cause or organization and more - all coming from local women or women-owned businesses.

The Every Women event originated last fall as a way to serve and showcase Tucson’s female entrepreneurs and business-owners. “Tucson has a tremendous amount of women in business and the arts and it is nice to support each other consciously,” said Marie Hancock, creator of the event (and an advertising rep for Zócalo).

Hancock started the event as a way to give back to her community and bring awareness to the local women business community as well as local women causes and organizations.

Taking place on May 30, Every Woman includes a raffle that will benefit the Partnership for Women and Girls - an alliance between Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse, YWCA Tucson and the Sahuaro Girl Scout Council.  “It’s a powerhouse trio,” Hancock said. The partnership helps girls and women in a variety of ways including life skills, financial education, and counseling, opportunities for safe shelter, employment training, scholarships and technology education.

It will also offer live music from Doug Hancock, The Cordials and a fashion show. Preen’s coordinating the fashion and co-owner Emilie Marchand  said the show is focused on vintage and will be comprised of a variety of styles, but does like the cocktail theme of the event. “I think it is fun to show the cocktail dresses because they sparkle a bit more,” Marchand quipped.

Admission is free and open to all ages. Facebook: The Secret Garden or call 822-6666.
