Tucson urban sustainable farmer, Kim Fox, is headed for a trek through Europe.
Kim, who has been dedicated to community education and local food production and has observed foodways in 25 countries, deems herself the "Ambassador of Local Food." She leaves in June to travel by bicycle from Western to Eastern Europe to engage with urban and rural farmers, gardeners, people at farmers markets, and public and private agencies. She plans to do sustainable food research through interviews, surveys, observation, and participation with hope to gain a broader perspective of local foodways. You can follow her journey at theoriginalhoe.blogspot.com.
Kim is founder of Pachamamas Garden micro-urban farming enterprise, where she designs urban sites for food production, composts community food waste to build soil, and facilitates community education programs on local food production, soil science, food security and healthy living.
A fundraiser is being held Thursday, May 27th to assist Kim on her travels. Come out and celebrate the Kim Fox Food Trek at Arts Marketplace, 40 W. Broadway Blvd, from 5 to 7pm.
