Pauly’s Pesto

I’m a big fan of eating lunch in the off hours. I like a quiet atmosphere and sparse crowds so my brain and taste buds can communicate sans distractions. Popular establishments like Beyond Bread have shaped this preference. Any place with great food is going to attract the masses between noon and 1 p.m., and I’m all about mob avoidance. I shan’t, however, stay away!

Last month, my late lunch starred Pauly’s Pesto ($8.25) with a side of baby carrots. Between the garlic Italian roll was a juicy chicken breast covered in melted provolone cheese, topped by tomatoes and artichoke hearts along with perfect portions of basil pesto and Italian dressing.

The sandwiches are so robust you’ll find yourself taking the other half to go. The restaurant knows this and provides its customers with self-serve wrapping supplies at the soda stations.

Specializing in artisan breads, pastries and uber fresh ingredients, it also offers soups, salads and breakfast. Check out the menu online at BeyondBread.com and let the salivating begin!
