David Olsen
WELCOME TO THE inaugural issue of Zócalo Tucson!
Brought to you by David Olsen, Jamie Manser and Troy Martin (all formerly of the Downtown Tucsonan) the magazine's purpose is to showcase the culturally rich urban community of downtown and central Tucson.
The name was chosen for its meaning and in appreciation of the Old Pueblo's cultural heritage.
Tucson's urban center is a special place with thriving arts, music, and entertainment. There is a lot going on in this burg and we'd like to be what you to turn to for a snapshot of monthly activities, along with coverage of local news and features.
That said, what you have in your hands covers a summer full of events. We will take the dog days to ramp up for future issues and develop our website, then publish monthly this fall.
Our goal is to have a positive, intelligent tone that celebrates the creativity pulsating in this town.
It is with optimism in the strength of Tucson's populace that we embark on this endeavor. We can't do this without you - we need your ideas, your support, your readership and your submissions.
To publicize your events, email frontdesk@zocalotucson.com by the 15th of each month for the following issue. To submit story ideas, please email me at jamie@zocalotucson.com.
In order to launch this independent publication and to keep it printing, we rely on advertising dollars. With tremendous gratitude, we tip our hats to the businesses that have stepped up for the maiden voyage. If you are interested in affordable advertising, Mr. Olsen will be the man to help you with your print and web marketing needs. You can reach him at david@zocalotucson.com or at 940-1229.
Though we are printing a monthly, we will be developing a robust website with daily updates and an online calendar of local happenings at www.ZocaloTucson.com.
We're jazzed and hope you are too.
