Are you in the mood for some farm fresh fare? Chef/Owner Ramiro Scavo's Pasco Kitchen and Lounge at 820 E. University Blvd. is now open and serving comfort food with modern flair.
Pure and local ingredients are a must for Scavo who is committed to offering exceptional food and drink. The name, derived from Latin meaning "feed" and "graze," is the essence of the eatery.
The urban and inviting restaurant had its soft opening on Valentine's Day, which was a success according to General Manager Andrew Record. The official opening date followed shortly after on Monday, Feb 21.
Record said that the restaurant is committed to "comfortable food with a fresh approach."
Proteins for the menu come from the community's own backyard, from local ranches including Walking J farms and Sleepy Frog Farms. Many of the vegetables for the menu come from as close as River Road Gardens.
With use of new culinary techniques, Pasco offers comfort food that "even grandma couldn't have quite done," said Record.
Menu items include farm fresh items such as:
Pasco "Bacon & Eggs" which consists of brioche French toast, maple and bourbon butter, flat top braised bacon, griddled potatoes, a farm fresh egg and seasonal jam. ($7.50)
For the carnivores out there the "Big Boy Burger" is a heaping helping of a grass-fed beef burger, braised pork, fried farm fresh egg, organic hollandaise, and smoked Gouda served on an organic roll. ($14.00)
Herbivores, do not fret, there are mouthwatering options including an array of salads and the "Quinoa Super Food Bowl" with local veggies, herbs, and barbequed citrus tofu. ($12.50)
Comfort food is an understatement; prices are comfortable too with plates ranging from $6 to $18.
Last, but certainly not least are the unique array of cocktails. Mr. Record, in charge of the bar and lounge has created a distinctive menu of drinks including hand squeezed juices and homemade syrups and jams.
The restaurant is recommended by Record, "When you need food to be kind of a hug for you."
