Patio Plans

By Katie Cunningham

Heading out to downtown Tucson for funky drinks and a relaxed atmosphere bring to mind 47Scott and Scott & Co. These two businesses are branching out by moving and expanding with a bigger bar and patio space.

"Tucson has amazing weather and we want to take advantage," Reese said.

Owners, Nicole Flowers and Travis Reese have succeeded at their current location on Congress Street but have a need to renovate their cocktail business, open 2-6pm Wednesday through Saturday, to a more open location. The coffee portion of Scott & co. closed permanently on Saturday Feb. 26.

"Its bitter sweet," Reese said. "We were excited about the new plans and didn't know how the coffee shop would fit in."

The closure of the coffee shop means more time and energy can be spent on the bar atmosphere. Although employees of the coffee shop will no long have that job, Flowers and Reese do not plan of leaving any of their employees without a job. They both believe that there will be enough spots of the coffee shop employees at the new bars, if the employees want them.

Although the owners have had great success with all three of their businesses - bar, restaurant and coffee shop. The conclusion to close the coffee shop happened because running three different shops was too big of a stretch.

"We had staff in the building from 6:30am to 4:30am," Reese said. "That always makes you worried."

With the new look of their businesses headed this way, hopes to be completed by early spring, the partnership has only excitement radiating through their smiles.

Although a new look is on its way, the head bartender, Ciaran Wiese, will still be there mixing up unique cocktails.

"He really has a passion for it," Reese said.

It is clear that the duo of downtown business is excited for the new look and patio addition. Waiting for the re-opening is certainly going to be the toughest part of this renovation.

"We're excited to be downtown and for downtown," Reese said.
