There And Back Bicycles, 1712 E. Speedway Blvd., specializes in commuting bikes. Situated within “frisbee throwing distance” from the University of Arizona campus, this is the place for baskets, bags, handlebars and other accessories to increase the comfort of your two-wheeled travels. Without exception, reviews on Yelp.com mention There And Back’s friendly service. If any problems arise with your bike, they’re always happy to fix it up and get you riding again. Find them at 261-5565 and ThereAndBackBikes.com or stop by Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-7pm and Sunday noon-5pm.
Fair Wheel Bikes bills itself as a “cycling boutique” for good reason. This is Tucson’s oldest pro shop, after all, with an exhaustively thorough parts catalog available for online perusal and purchasing at FairWheelBikes.com. Brick and mortar hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm; Saturday, 9am-5:30pm and Sunday noon-4pm. Beyond their unparalleled “high end and project bike selection,” Fair Wheel is also the headquarters for an ace group ride. Check them out at 884-9018 and 1110 E. 6th St for details.
RC Bicycles, 428 N. Fremont Ave., sets themselves apart by carrying sweet GT, Schwinn and GT cruisers which ooze style and sass. They offer multi-day bike rentals too, so that your snowbird cousin can join you on a jaunt across the Diamondback Bridge during their desert vacation. Call 624-2285 for pricing information or to make a reservation. Students and seasonal residents may be pleased to take advantage of RC’s bicycle storage service, which includes a safety check, basic adjustment and tire inflation. Doors are open Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm; Saturday, 10am-5pm and Sunday, noon-4pm. Learn about how RC gives back to community causes at RCBicycles.com.
Owner/manager David Tang has been steering Ordinary Bike Shop, conveniently located off Fourth Avenue at 311 E. 7th St., since November 2007. Although Ordinary can order any item for your velocipede, they don’t make an effort to focus on anything too fancy. Instead, they have “a little bit of everything,” says newish employee Rocky Serna, 32. “For the most part, we’re just...ordinary.” And that’s a good thing. Ordinary is open Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm and Saturday, 8am-5pm. Call 622-6488 or visit OrdinaryBikeShop.com.
Ride safe!
