Trolley Downtown?

In Section: Users Blogs » Posted By: sidewalk

Did anyone else think it was odd that one week after the big to-do celebrating the opening of the 4th Avenue underpass and the trolley into downtown, that the trolley wasn't even running downtown this past weekend? Even though it ran its usual weekend route up and down 4th Ave and University, it never made it into downtown. It instead ended the line at it's usual location near O'Malleys and The Hut. All this effort and money to build this grand underpass, and the city and all of those wonderful downtown "planners" can't even pull it together enough to help the trolley operate in downtown?

Something I have been noticing for months, is the lack of people willing to ride for $1. 25 cent Sundays is a great idea, an idea that should possibly be extended for other operation days. Or to at least bump the price down a bit from a dollar, even 50 cents. They'd probably profit far more from lower prices, rather than running empty trolley cars and being sticklers.

UPDATE: This past labor day weekend the Trolley did travel downtown during the day. Unfortunately, due to a last minute shortage in volunteers it was unable to run downtown at night.

The only reason the Old Publo Trolley did not make runs to the Downtown on Saturday, is because the tracks and 8th street were closed down for the TIiki celebration. It was an oddity indeed, but all will be well this weekemd.
