Some of Tucson's favorite local musicians will take their Old Pueblo sound all the way to Europe this Fall. '
Marianne Dissard, whose latest Calexico-produced album, "L'Entredeux," has been gaining worldwide acclaim, is set to take the stage in Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium... and she's bringing a slew of Tucson talent along with her.
Accompanying Dissard will be Brian Lopez, solo artist and lead singer/ guitarist of Mostly Bears; Geoff Hidalgo, Mostly Bears' bassist, and Sergio Mendoza, of Sergio Mendoza y La Orkestra.
From the sounds of it, the tour has become quite the collaboration, with Lopez slated to play nine solo shows thus far, in addition to providing guitar and backing vocals to Dissard.
Hidalgo, likewise, will be playing bass guitar and Mendoza will be on drums.
Olivier Samouillan and Rob Hecht will play violin at various points in the tour.
To catch some of Tucson's finest before they head off, make sure and check out their upcoming shows. And while you're there, show a little love by throwing a few dollars into the tip jar. Europe doesn't come cheap!!
Brian Lopez:
Lopez will perform a solo show at Solar Culture on Thursday, Nov. 5, opening up for Amparo Sanchez from Barcelona, Spain. In true Tucson fashion, Sanchez will also be accompanied by members of Calexico.
Tickets are $10, show starts at 9 p.m. Lopez will have albums on hand for sale, and all the proceeds will go towards helping him kick ass in Europe.
Mostly Bears:
The trio will be playing a show Friday, Nov. 6, and it will be their last of the year. Mostly Bears takes the stage with LA's Nico Vega and The Ghost Dove. Doors open at 9 p.m., tickets are $5.
