Call to Artists

5 Save the Gloo Factory Art Exhibit Contribute ART FOR A CAUSE! Seeking artists to donate 2D and 3D artwork for an exhibition and auction to support the Gloo Factory. Submission deadline is April 17. Contact Melanie Emerson, gloofactoryart@yahoo.com, to donate or for more information. Exhibit and Auction will be held Sunday, April 25 6-8 pm at Raices Taller 222 Gallery. The Gloo Factory is an independent media center located in the heart of Tucson's downtown warehouse arts district and home to a number of projects, including Feral Press and Peace Supplies. Owned and operated by Dwight Metzger, the Gloo Factory offers services and education in printing and the graphic arts. Clients are primarily from Tucson’s progressive community and include labor, environmental, and human rights groups, and political groups and candidates. Currently, the Gloo Factory is threatened with eviction from the warehouse it has rented for the last decade, as the building is scheduled to be auctioned by Arizona Dept. of Transportation to the highest bidder. As a result, the Gloo Factory launched a campaign to raise the funds needed to continue its community-focused work. See www.savethegloofactory.org for more information on the auction and the campaign.
